Larger treatment capacity

The new reactors are more compact and have more capacity than the previous installation. Compared to the old aerobe treatment plant the new one produces 70 percent less sludge.
The biogas produced by the IC-reactors is fed into the natural gas grid after desulphurization of the gas by a Thiopaq-reactor. The installation has a daily gas capacity of 24,000 m3.
Boost for reduction carbon emissions
The refit boosts the carbon policy of the international paper producer that aims to reduce CO2-emissions per ton of production with 30 percent by 2030.

Quick payback time

'But above all' he added, 'the Biopaq reactor produces biogas that can be used as an alternative energy source and reduces the company’s energy bill significantly. Our high gas yield, is an important advantage'.
